The threaded pneumatic ball valve is derived from the globe valve. It shares the same 90-degree rotational action, but the difference lies in its plug body, which is spherical and has a circular through-hole or channel along its axis. The proportion of the spherical surface to the channel opening is designed such that when the ball rotates 90 degrees, the spherical surface is fully exposed at the inlet and outlet, thereby cutting off the flow.

The threaded pneumatic ball valve requires only a 90-degree rotation and minimal torque to achieve a tight seal. The fully equal interior cavity of the valve body provides a low-resistance, straight-through flow path for the medium. While ball valves are typically considered most suitable for simple on-off operations, recent advancements have enabled designs that allow ball valves to perform throttling and flow control functions.
